[stringtemplate-interest] Iteration

Greetings again,

I've been testing for about a week now and had a question about iteration:

Is it against the StringTemplate philosophy to only show a segment of a list
(i.e. first 20 items or last 20 items in a list)?

OR should the controller segment the list before it is passed it?

I wanted my template designers to decide how many items to display, but
could not figure out how I would accomplish this / if it was the proper
way.

I'm not looking for a hack via a renderer, etc.
