[stringtemplate-interest] Archive mailbox format - mutt cannot read them

I've downloaded the stringtemplate mailing list archives, unzipped them,
but mutt -f 2005-March.txt, for example, shows no emails in that mbox.

When opening the file with vi, the emails are there.

I narrowed down the problem, there are two From headers, one as "From"
and the other as "From:".

The problem is with the "From" header - the email addresses in this
particular header have their @ char changed to " at ".
For some reason, having extra sequences of characters (caused by the
inserted spaces) makes mutt crap out and not read ANY of the emails in
that mbox file.

Does anyone have a solution to this?
