I have been meaning to reply to this. Until I can write a fuller reply, I'll
just agree that the ST language needs separating from it's implementation.
And it would benefit from an independent implementation (in Java) to
validate that language specification.

I haven't really formed a view on model checks and cardinality specifiers. I
can see how they can be useful though.
